Thought I was done with Chapter 5. Just before bed, I figured out what additions I need to make, thanks to the chapter summary I was updating.
Does English have a word for "I'm happy it's going to be better but frustrated that I have to do more work" ?
All I really want to do is edit chapter 6.
What I need to do is eat lunch and dig up more rock from my garden.
Today has been remarkably productive for everything except my one goal: fixing chapter 5. I've pecked away at it, of course, but in the meantime I've done two loads of laundry, boiled eggs, sent check-in letters to all the new members of my writing group, updated my grocery list, made the bed, and cleaned the sink...
... and soon I'm going to go grocery shopping and dig up another truck load in my garden.
I suppose the good news is that I refined chapter 4 a little?
Thanks, Google, for those incredibly detailed pictures of bloated corpses. The descriptions in chapter 5 are so much more vivid now.
Also, ew.
@lilithsaintcrow when you set up this mastodon instance, was there a particular guide you used? Or are you tech-savvy enough to have done it from the straight documentation.
Getting ready to head out to the state capital for my local #MarchForOurLives organized by students at the high school the next town over.
Sure would be nice if the local government tried to do something about toxic masculinity (the most recent school shooter in our state shot and killed his ex-girlfriend) and gun access.
Tombow twintone pens are amazing and I don't know how I've lived without them all this time. Finally, a thin-tipped pen on the other end of a durable fine-tip marker, that doesn't scratch or squeak or get worn down at the slightest pressure!
Finished grading all of 4th period's papers -- and I have enough grades for the quarter, plus one bonus. Ate two toaster strudels and a ham&cheese sandwich, so now it's time to settle in to the important business of critiquing the last chapter on my docket so I can move on to editing chapter 5 of Carmine Mage :)
Curious to figure out how Carmine is going to deal with the corpse blocking her path.
I am a recently-married 30 year old social studies #teacher who writes books on the side, mostly fantasy novels inspired by different points in history.
I enjoy #gardening, #bulletjournaling, and go rock climbing on the weekends.
i need to build up a dossier of credible articles that clearly show why it is important to leave platforms like birdsite, fb, ig, etc.
does anyone know of a possible collection of such articles (or links to) that I could use as part of presentation that would clearly show people why joining Mastodon and boycotting the corporate-based social networks is necessary?
it looks i'm on a local advocacy campaign for a local
instance again.
I invited a blind guy to Mastodon and now I'm shocked at how few of you write image descriptions. 😳

It's a snow day so I'm trying to be productive. It's a weekday, so my cat is freaking out and won't stop aggressively trying to get my attention for reasons unknown.
I edited two chapters in two days and even updated my outline to reflect the changes.
It's like a miracle or something.
Spent a pretty long time today researching the history of distillation, and the traditional (pre-ice, pre-manufacturing) vessels used for anise-based drinks like ouzo and arak. Turns out distillation didn't exist BCE so it's irrelevant for my novel, but still interesting!
I completely re-wrote a chapter that's been bothering me for months. Wrote 2700 words in one day, which is more in one day than I've done in recent memory, particularly for an in-progress project.
I am unbelievably tired but I survived picture day, maintained am even temper all through my worst class even when a kid stole goldfish from my desk, helped a writer friend find her focus, made copies for tomorrow, made a healthy after school snack (pecan&date saffron rice), put dinner in the oven and am now trying to make my chapter 10 work.
Diane Duane is one of my favorite authors, and so I pass this on. All their ebooks are on sale, and there’s also a paypal address provided.

An unexpected financial shortfall has left us in danger of losing our home. Would you consider buying a sale-priced #ebook to help us out? http://dianeduane.com/outofambit/a-difficult-appeal/
Writing good flash fiction is hard.
Writing even mediocre flash fiction is hard.
It's easier to write a 3k chapter than a 500 short.
I have an enormous stack of essays to grade and no idea when grades are due. I also have no desire to still be sitting at work. Ughhh.
@fidgety And, in case you were wondering: Yes, Mr. Rogers was exactly the same in real life as he was on the show. It wasn't an act. He was truly that kind and compassionate.
There are many, many stories out there about how Pittsburghers randomly saw him on the street or somewhere, and he ALWAYS took the time to talk to people.
And he was forever a fan of telling people that he "liked you just the way you are."
When I'm sad, I try to think about that.
