The urge to just knock off anything approaching work and watch PREY is overwhelming.

I might give in.

FUCK YEAH GRIZZLY BEAR!

I’m all in on this movie. Ridiculously all in.

…I should not have just cheered. But I did.

I may even have muttered, “karma, beeyotch.”

Yup, definitely a Predator movie. Good heavens, this is amazing.

Solidly on Team Predator Icing All The Trappers, while also being Team Naru Stabbing Anyone She Goddamn Feels Like.

I contain multitudes.

LAY OFF SARII, YOU MOTHERFUCKERS

I WILL SHANK YOU IF YOU HURT THAT DOG

Love the thematic echo of baiting the hunter. What a beautifully constructed and structured story this is.

“If it bleeds, we can kill it.”

I am neutral on the Predator franchise as a whole but this? This is one helluva movie.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA BEAR TRAP

I’m sorry, I just laughed like a hyena. I like the callbacks to the original movie—and I like the Adrian Brody one—but this just goes twenty times harder and fifty better than either.

The look on Taabe’s face when Naru says, “I have a plan.”

Just beautiful.

…the amazing thing is that any of the French hit it with that volley, frankly, but that’s a small quibble.

I have to stop for dinner, but I’ll be back with the liveposting of PREY in a bit. Stay frosty.

I have returned, fortified by cheeseburger, to watch the rest of PREY.

Sarii better be okay, that’s all I’m sayin’.

Follow

GOOD JOB, NARU

YOU DON’T LET THEM HURT THAT DOG

Fuck yeah, give that girl a gun. I am 100% in favor of that plot point.

This fight choreography is just so beautiful. I get so lost in it I forget to take notes.

Rewatching will be in order.

NOOOOOOOOOOO

Oh fuck, I cared about that one. Oh dear. Well done, movie.

BUT NOOOOOOOO

The script for this must be beautiful. The structure is just marvelous, not a single wasted moment.

FUCK YEAH NARU, TEACH THAT INTERGALACTIC JACKASS WHO’S BOSS

The cackle that I just let out. Eye-stabbing has never been so goddamn satisfying.

GO NARU.

Oh fuck, the quicksand…OH FUUUUUUUCK.

This movie is giving me a heart attack.

Holy wow, this is the most satisfying boss fight EVAR.

So, that was PREY. The movie FLEW by, my goodness. Structurally super solid, thematically on-point, wonderfully acted, and the dog lives.

I’m going to have to watch this one a few times and take notes. Just wonderful.

It’s not often that a book or movie pulls me in so completely I stop looking “under the hood” at the structure and underpinnings. This one managed it, which is a huge and welcome surprise.

I have a soft spot for the original movie because I was so young when I first watched it, and the PREDATORS one because Adrien Brody. (We all know how I feel about him.)

But PREY absolutely blows everything else out of the water.

I am told there’s also a Comanche dub, which will be utterly glorious.

And the dog lives! SARII LIVES, AND IS THE BEST BOI EVAR!

I need this movie on DVD and everything else. With a vengeance. Holy wow and star my garters, that was *satisfying*. Two thumbs way, way up.

@lilithsaintcrow I’m planning on watching the Comanche dub sometime this weekend.
