Once you hit “send”, anything you say goes on a server and is out of your control. It’s out there FOREVER, because the internet never forgets.
Spend a little time NOW thinking about what you want to keep private.
*Then* there’s the Rando Calrissians, the harassers and shit-stirrers looking for new victims to fuel their own engagement numbers and need for sweet sweet indignation, and the outright nutbars.
And that doesn’t even cover the people who are just lonely and genuinely want a connection you can’t give because you have a life to live and work to do.
Being a public person, in any degree, is a risky business. You absolutely cannot control the emotional agendas of people who will seek contact with you, and you *will* get burned more than once.

(Adulthood has *some* perks. I never have to eat a soggy-ass margarine insult in place of real grilled cheese ever again, thank you all gods old and new.)

Most of all, I’m tired of the myth that the dispossessed are somehow supposed to take time out from sheer survival to fix all the bullshit.
Also sighted: Seagulls come inland and on the lookout for a quick snack, two murderously enraged hummingbirds, winter-lean squirrels giving chase, and traces of snow lingering if one knows where to look.
As for today’s run, it was very slow, and I had a lot of time to think. There’s even some alyssum still blooming, in a particular microbiome. Draggled, but still holding on.
It’s hilarious when the breeze is up, because both dogs are like “INVISIBLE THING TOUCHING ME, MUM MAKE IT STAAAAAAAHP!!!onety!1!”
